Making Education Stick
veni, vidi, velcro

I came, I saw; it stuck! We know from experience that we remember what we see. (I recognize the face, just can’t remember the name.) In this practical and inspirational session, we demonstrate the power of that visual memory as well as six other hooks that make learning last beyond the test. Come, hear the CHIMES2™ reverberate memorable learning experiences through Connection, Humor, Images, Music, Emotion, Story, and multiple Senses. Exercise your gray cells and your laughing muscles as you participate in replicable activities that incorporate the CHIMES2 principles. Experience what it means to connect, concretize and contextualize a lesson, to use humor and images purposefully, to invite music to carry the message, to evoke emotion and engagement, and to weave in story and meaningful context.
Touch on some of the research and writings that inspired this session, including Brain Rules (John Medina), Made to Stick (Chip and Dan Heath), Multimedia Learning (Richard Mayer), Teaching Visual Literacy (Nancy Frey, Douglas Fisher, Editors), They Snooze, You Lose (Lynell Burmark), Visual Literacy (Lynell Burmark), and A Whole New Mind (Daniel Pink).
